Lions Australia is Australiaās largest service club with more than 1200 clubs in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Lions are friends, family and neighbours who share a core belief: community is what we make it.
At the Lions Club of Manly, we aim to empower volunteers to serve our community, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding.
About the Lions Club of Manly
Lions is a community service organisation and at the Lions Club of Manly we are dedicated to be helping our community thrive through a range of projects, including helping local community organisations, humanitarian aid, medical research, disaster relief and more. Ā
Here are some of the regular projects we organise through the Lions Club of Manly:
- Manly Markets Monthly BBQ
- Annual Circus Quirkus – Free tickets for disadvantaged children and their carers paid by donations from businesses who purchase the tickets
- Collection of second hand eye glasses
- Car sponsorship for Tibetan driving classes
- Feed the Hungry: Food collection at the local supermarkets to support community centres and homeless shelters
- Diabetes awareness: Hand out leaflets at shopping centers to create awareness
- Support (financial) of the nippers programmes
- Support for the purchase of āwalkersā for handicapped children

What’s going on?
Last year may have slowed us down, but it hasn’t dampened our spirits or our continued efforts in the community.
Right now we are busy speaking with sponsors and supporters for our annual circus, Circus Quirkus. This is a great event that enables disadvantaged children to get a long for a day of laughter, magic and acrobatics.
Keep an eye out for us back at our monthly markets at the Manly Village Public School, and at local supermarkets doing food drives for the less fortunate. We’re also actively collecting aluminium cans and bottle caps that go towards our Hart Walker Project.
We’d also love to hear from you if you have any Community Projects you think we should be supporting at, or we could be the catalyst to start.

Congratulations to the Manly Wheel Eagles!
Tonight Mayor Sue Heins and Northern Beaches Councillors presented a certificate to 4-time Paralympian and Manly Wheelchair Basketball co-founder Koen Jansens and rising stars Rafferty Stevens and Saxon Carr, recognising the teamās 2026 National Wheelchair Basketball League championship win.
An incredible achievement in only their third year competing at national level.

The Lions Club of Manly is a community organisation that provides charitable service to a variety of groups in need. With Councils changing parking restrictions all over the peninsula, I have been parking this safely near my home in Orara Avenue while we find a longer term solution to the storage of our critical BBQ trailer use at community and charity events.
Between Monday night and this morning, someone has chosen to cut the handles off so we cannot access the trailer and rendering the community BBQ this weekend cancelled. I will be reporting this to police and if anyone has any information please contact me on 0401147556 or david.cowell67@outlook.com

šļø This World Sight Day, weāre celebrating a huge milestone!
The Lions Eye Health Program - Australia (LEHP) set a goal of providing 17,000 free childrenās vision screenings in 2026. That goal was reached in July, and now, with almost three months still to go, more than 27,000 screenings have been delivered across Australia! š
This incredible milestone is thanks to almost 1,700 Lions volunteers who give their time to help identify vision issues early and make a difference to children and families in their communities.
A huge thank you to every LEHP screener and Lions Club helping make this life-changing program possible. š
