Lions Australia is Australia’s largest service club with more than 1200 clubs in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Lions are friends, family and neighbours who share a core belief: community is what we make it.
At the Lions Club of Manly, we aim to empower volunteers to serve our community, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding.
About the Lions Club of Manly
Lions is a community service organisation and at the Lions Club of Manly we are dedicated to be helping our community thrive through a range of projects, including helping local community organisations, humanitarian aid, medical research, disaster relief and more.
Here are some of the regular projects we organise through the Lions Club of Manly:
- Manly Markets Monthly BBQ
- Annual Circus Quirkus – Free tickets for disadvantaged children and their carers paid by donations from businesses who purchase the tickets
- Collection of second hand eye glasses
- Car sponsorship for Tibetan driving classes
- Feed the Hungry: Food collection at the local supermarkets to support community centres and homeless shelters
- Diabetes awareness: Hand out leaflets at shopping centers to create awareness
- Support (financial) of the nippers programmes
- Support for the purchase of ‘walkers’ for handicapped children

What’s going on?
Last year may have slowed us down, but it hasn’t dampened our spirits or our continued efforts in the community.
Right now we are busy speaking with sponsors and supporters for our annual circus, Circus Quirkus. This is a great event that enables disadvantaged children to get a long for a day of laughter, magic and acrobatics.
Keep an eye out for us back at our monthly markets at the Manly Village Public School, and at local supermarkets doing food drives for the less fortunate. We’re also actively collecting aluminium cans and bottle caps that go towards our Hart Walker Project.

We are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth and live to a standard that many can only dream of. By joining the Lions Club of Manly you can give back to our wonderful local community, as well as do more for the wider national and international communities we serve.
In addition to giving back, our members benefit from meeting new people and extending their networks with lasting friendships, learning new skills and experiencing personal development, and much more.
From supporting the leaders of tomorrow through our youth programs, to rallying together in times of natural disaster, Manly Lions (and our sausage sizzles) are making a huge difference in our communities.
Lions Club of Manly has proudly teamed up with Harvey Norman Balgowlah to support the incredible work of Stewart House, a charity that provides essential medical care and respite services to disadvantaged children.
Each year, around “1,600 public school children from NSW and ACT” attend Stewart House many arriving in desperate need of medical, dental, optical care and emotional support. With government funding covering just 8% of its costs, Stewart House relies heavily on the generosity of the community to continue changing young lives.
Harvey Norman Balgowlah generously covers the full cost of the BBQ and the Lions volunteer their time ,this means every dollar raised goes directly to Stewart House.

This year, we've grilled up nearly 2,000 sausages sausages....! And it isn't over yet, with more BBQs on the horizon, including a special gathering at North Head on Boxing Day to kick off the Sydney to Hobart race.
Every sausage and bacon & egg roll (1,200 cooked so far!) supports our community projects across the Northern Beaches. We're so thankful for your incredible support! Let's keep the momentum going!

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Harvey Norman in Balgowlah to test out their brand new BBQ Centre this weekend!
We had an amazing time serving the community as they came into the store, and we're beyond excited to be back next week to do it all again. 🎉
